If you shoot often, whether it's in your backyard, at the range, or getting ready for hunting season, you've probably gone through your fair share of targets.
Most targets start off fine, but it doesn't take long before
- the foam breaks down
- arrow removal turns into a workout
- and you're dragging it back to the store (or the trash)
That's where Canadian brand Bulldog Targets comes in.
Bulldog isn't the flashiest name out there, and they're not chasing trends.
But they've quietly built a cult following among serious archers... The kind of people who put hundreds, or even thousands of arrows into a target and expect it to hold up.

Doghouse XP Archery Target
Best for Serious Power
The Doghouse XP is thick, tough, and built to stop just about anything, including fast compound bows and crossbows (rated up to 380 FPS). With 12 inches of depth, it offers serious stopping power, making it a favorite for people who shoot indoors and don't want to risk pass-throughs — even at close range.
- 24" x 24" x 12"
- Weighs ~35 lbs
- Part of the Plus Series for ultra stopping power and easy arrow removal
Here's why so many seasoned shooters stick with Bulldog.

1) The Lifetime Warranty is the Real Deal
Let's be honest — when you're buying something for the sole purpose of shooting arrows into it, knowing it comes with a lifetime warranty is about as appealing as it gets.
Targets wear out, it's just part of the deal.
But Bulldog doesn't make you buy a whole new one when that happens — they'll send you a replacement face for free (just cover shipping).
And if the inside ever gives out, they'll refurbish the whole thing.
It's the kind of no-nonsense support you rarely see anymore, and it's a big reason Bulldog has earned such a loyal following.

2) Built to Take a Beating
Most targets on the market are made from layered foam — which works fine until you start pushing thousands of arrows through it.
Foam starts to break down, shot groups get inconsistent, and before long, you're shopping for a replacement.
Bulldog uses a different internal material (especially in their Plus Series) that's built for high-volume shooting.

It holds up way better over time, and some shooters report getting 30,000+ shots out of a single target.
You don't have to baby these targets — they're made to be worked.
And when the face eventually wears out, a "quick refresh" is as simple as swapping in a new face kit, which Bulldog will send you under their lifetime warranty. The core usually stays solid, so with a fresh face, your target feels good as new.
💡 Pro Tip: Step on your target (literally)
If you start getting soft spots or near pass-throughs, just lay the target face-down and gently step around on it. It'll help redistribute the internal material and even things out. It sounds odd, but it works... And it sure beats replacing the whole thing.

3) Arrow Removal Doesn't Suck
Ask any experienced archer — easy arrow removal isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a non-negotiable.
When you're shooting high-poundage bows or putting in volume practice, the last thing you want is a target that holds on for dear life.
Bulldog gets this right.
Their targets, especially the Plus Series, are known for consistent, low-effort arrow removal. Even after hundreds of shots, arrows come out clean.
- No twisting
- No yanking
- No bending shafts trying to pull them loose
It's one of the first things people mention in reviews, and for good reason.
If you've fought with other targets before, switching to a Bulldog will feel like a massive upgrade.

4) Designed for Real-World Practice
Some targets look great online but fall short when you actually get them on the range.
Bulldog keeps it simple — their designs reflect how people actually shoot.
First, they're self-standing.
So you don't need to build a frame or mess around with extra gear.
The target faces use dark aiming points on a white background, which are easy to see from a distance and hold up well under repeated use.
They're also weather-resistant
So if you leave yours out overnight or get caught in some rain, no big deal.
Just keep it out of direct sun long-term... UV can fade the target face and dry it out faster over time.

5) Rated for Serious Power — Including Crossbows
Not all targets can handle high-speed setups, especially when you get into crossbow territory. But Bulldog targets are built for it.
Their Doghouse XL 450 target, for example is rated for:
- Up to 450 FPS (feet per second)
- 16" thick for maximum stopping power
That kind of stopping power makes them a solid choice for compound shooters, crossbow hunters, and anyone running a high-energy setup.
You won't see pass-throughs or breakdowns after a few sessions.

The Reviews Say It All
You don't need to dig too deep on this one... just scroll through the reviews.
Bulldog has thousands of them across the web, and the feedback is remarkably consistent:
- Durable
- Reliable
- Worth the money.
Whether it's a seasoned bowhunter, a club coach, or someone just getting into backyard shooting, the praise is the same.
That kind of word-of-mouth doesn't happen by accident.
What I Love About Bulldog Targets
- Legit Lifetime Warranty Wear out the face? They'll send a new one. Need a full refurb? They'll handle it.
- Ridiculously Durable Made for archers who shoot often and don't want to replace their target every season.
- Easy Arrow Removal No tugging, no twisting. Even with high-poundage bows, arrows pull out clean.
- Crossbow-Ready Rated up to 450 FPS depending on the model. Built to stop serious speed.

Final Thoughts
Bulldog doesn't overpromise... They just make targets that hold up.
If you're tired of chewing through foam blocks and replacing your setup every season, it's probably time to try something built to last.
Plenty of archers already have. And once they do, they don't go back.

I have shot at least 200 arrows into it only 270 ft./s 400 grain victory VAP. from 20 yards to 90 yards stops them all target still looks amazing. I just don't see how this target will not last a lifetime Dan don't wanna talk crap about my other targets, but this is hands-down the best that I've purchased.

Target was delivered in short order and is built like a tank but can remove the arrows with 2 fingers. Buy with confidence and support a great Canadian company.
