Summer is almost here. This means it's time, at least for me, to shed off that extra winter weight we put on...
I've been looking for workouts I can do at home, slowly buying and building my home gym.
I Made a Massive Mistake
I've realized that most of the things I bought, and money spent on memberships was a total waste of money. Here's why:
The Tonal 2 does literally everything, with less space, less cost, and more convenience.
The Ultimate Strength Training System

The Tonal 2
You'll Never Want to Workout Without It
Tonal is the ultimate workout tool for your home gym. It can simulate almost every machine in the gym, and effectively target every muscle group.
Whatever split you're on, Tonal lets you do it from your house, with personalized tips and training plans.
Why is Tonal such a Win for Home Gyms?
- Convenience
- Price to performance & quality
- Personalized training for maximum growth
- 2 Year Warranty
- Imrpoved Safety Features
I won't lie, this was a big decision. A Tonal isn't cheap.
But, after doing tons of research, spending about 187 hours commuting, and probably as much as a full Tonal would cost on memberships, I wish I'd have just pulled the trigger on the Tonal from the beginning.
Let's break it down...

1) Convenience
This is a pretty obvious one. I don't like leaving my house, honestly. Leaving the comfort of my home to go to the gym is usually the biggest barrier for me.
So, thanks to Tonal, I can do basically everything from the comfort of my home. This also has been the key for me to working out 6 days a week consistently.
Being able to do a full push, pull and legs from one machine is so freeing. The absolute best part is, I'll never have to wait around.

2) Price to performance
Believe me, I got sticker shock at first too. But then I did the math... If you wanted a home gym setup that can achieve the same workouts as a single Tonal 2, here's what you'd need:
- Squat Rack - $350
- Set of Plates - $320
- Adjustable Dumbbell Set - $222
- Cable Machine - $2000
- Lat Pulldown Machine - $600
Adjustable Bench - $300
Total - $3792
Realistically, Then factor in the personal training, and the amount of space needed for all that equipment in your house and it quickly becomes a no brainer decision.
"This is one of the most incredible pieces of technology I have ever purchased. Not just in how the Tonal can compress almost a gym's worth of equipment on your wall, but in how thoughtful the user experience is engineered."

3) Personalized training for maximum growth
This might be one of the best parts of owning a Tonal. Having a personalized training program has increased my progress like crazy.
The built-in smart view improves my technique, and has definitely saved me from a deadlift injury. That's something that you can't get from any other piece of home gym equipment.
Tonal also adjusts the resistance in the middle of your set. This takes a little bit of getting used to, but I've been able to push and reach failure much more effectively.
The worst feeling after a set is feeling like you could have put a little more in.
Once you go with Tonal, you'll never feel that again.

4) Two Year Warranty
I've been burnt so much by buying things without a warranty. It feels amazing knowing that my Tonal is covered under warranty for two years, plus the extended warranty for 1 year.
Considering the fact that you're having a technician come and repair the machine on site, this warranty is absolutely incredible. I'm honestly not even sure how they can offer something like this.
If you're still not sure, there's a 30-day money-back guarantee. So there's really nothing to lose here.
But wait... this is the best part of being a Tonal owner.
5) Drop Sets Without Fear
Whether you're super deep into science-based lifting, bodybuilding, or just lifting as heavy as possible, the value of drop sets and pushing to failure is undeniable.
I myself hate going to failure on compound movements like bench press, squats, and deadlifts, because let's be honest it's not safe on your own.
But, I'm pushing for muscle hypertrophy, so I wanted to find a way to get some drop sets in. That's where Tonal's New Drop Set Feature comes in. It analyzes your energy throughout your workout, and just as you're about to drop the set, it lowers the weight to give you a few more reps.
It's been amazing This one feature is really worth it in my opinion.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
If you're looking into building an awesome home gym, but limited on space or just want more data on your workouts, Tonal is a huge win in my books.
If you're looking for the cheapest way to workout, this probably isn't for you. But, if you're in a spot where you can invest in your health, and want to maximize your workouts, you should definitely give this machine a try.

If, six months ago, someone had told me I'd be lifting this much in a workout, I would NOT have believed them.
